Frequently Asked Questions

  • Psychotherapy is a clinically grounded, evidence-based space focused on emotional well-being, healing, and deeper self-understanding. Together, we explore past experiences, relationships, patterns, and internal dynamics that shape how you feel and move through the world today.

This process may include processing old wounds, increasing emotional awareness, strengthening boundaries, and developing healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. Therapy is a confidential, supportive space where growth and healing unfold at your pace.

Psychotherapy can only be provided to individuals who are physically located in the state where I am licensed to practice (currently Florida) and is billed as a mental health service, distinct from consultation or coaching.

  • Consultation and coaching are non-clinical, future-focused services designed to support clarity, confidence, and goal-directed growth. These services focus on areas such as identity development, mindset, performance, academics, career, leadership, or personal growth.

While consultation and coaching draw from evidence-informed tools and a relational lens, they do not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions and are not a substitute for psychotherapy. If at any point I believe therapy would better support you, I will discuss this openly and help guide you toward appropriate care.

Because these services are not governed by clinical licensure laws, they are available to individuals nationwide.

To note, a specialized form of consultation I offer is mental performance coaching for athletes. Please see the question below to learn more.

  • Mental performance coaching is a specialized form of consultation designed to help athletes strengthen the mental side of their game.

My work is particularly helpful for tennis players, though the skill can be applied across sport and everyday life. I bring my very human self into the room as a fellow athlete, drawing from my experience as a several-time state tennis champion in Wisconsin, a current competitive player in Florida, and my professional background in the field of mental health.

We build a trusting relationship and explore who you are as a player and person by mapping our your goals, strengths, challenges, and areas of focus. From there, we collaboratively discuss growth areas, engage in skills-based work, and talk about your past and present experiences as an athlete.

As a reminder, mental sports performance coaching is educational and coaching-based, not psychotherapy, and does not involve diagnosing or treatment mental health conditions. If at any point additional support may be be beneficial, this would be discussed and guided toward appropriate care.

  • Therapy with me is collaborative, relational, and grounded in genuine human connection. You do not need to come in with everything figured out - this is a space where the messy, confusing, and honest parts of your experience are welcome.

I move at your pace, listen with intention, and focus on building a relationship where you feel safe exploring what comes up for you. Together, we look beneath the surface with curiosity rather than judgment, noticing patterns, emotions, and parts of yourself with care.

My role is not to fix you, but to walk alongside you as you deepen self-understanding, reconnect with your needs, and move toward a life that feels more grounded and aligned.

  • Initial Consultation
We begin with a brief phone consultation to learn more about what you’re looking for, answer questions, and ensure we’re a good fit.

    Intake Session
Our first full session focuses on getting to know you - your story, current concerns, and hopes for our work together. There’s no need to prepare; allowing thoughts and feelings to arise naturally often provides the most meaningful starting point.

    Ongoing Sessions
Sessions typically continue weekly at first to build connection and depth in the work. Over time, we may adjust frequency together based on your needs. Sessions are usually held at a consistent time each week, with flexibility when life happens.

The length of our work together varies - some people do feel supported after several months, however, I typically work with those who seek and benefit from longer-term therapy or consultation.

Consultation and coaching sessions may vary in length and structure and will be discussed during the intake process.

  • Psychotherapy is confidential, meaning what you share is private and protected by law. I take your privacy seriously and work to create a space where you can speak openly and feel safe being yourself.

There are a few legally mandated exceptions where confidentiality must be broken to protect safety, including:

    • Immediate risk of harm to yourself or others

    • Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult

    • Court-ordered release of records

    • Emergency medical situations

    • Written permission to share information

We will review these limits together during your intake session.

Consultation and coaching services are not protected by the same confidentiality laws as psychotherapy. If safety concerns arise or therapy would be more appropriate, I will discuss this with you and help connect you to the appropriate level of care.

  • Fees are discussed prior to beginning services and clearly outlined in your intake paperwork. Pricing varies depending on the service, session length, and number of individuals present.

I reserve a small number of sliding scale spots for individuals who are committed to the work and navigating financial limitations. Sliding scale availability is limited. If you feel you may benefit from a reduced fee, please reach out and we can discuss what feels supportive and manageable.

  • Calming Pathways is currently only accepting private-pay clients, and does not accept insurance directly.

You may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement for psychotherapy services. Upon request, I can provide a monthly superbill for submission to your insurance company.

I choose not to work directly with insurance in order to:

    • Protect client privacy

    • Avoid unnecessary or inaccurate diagnoses

    • Maintain flexibility in the length, frequency, and focus of our work

  • For psychotherapy, payment is collected through a secure, HIPAA-compliant online client portal and is charged on the day of service.

For consultation and coaching services, this payment option is also available and most preferred, with the additional option to pay via Zelle.

  • Yes! Virtual sessions are offered through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

  • The 15-minute consultation allows us to briefly connect, discuss what you’re looking for, and determine whether my approach feels like a good fit. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of what working together may look like.

If you feel ready to begin with a full session instead, we can discuss that option too!

  • A minimum of 48 hours notice is required for cancellations to avoid the full session fee. Emergencies are handled with flexibility and understanding.

  • It’s completely normal to feel uncertain or have questions! Reaching out for support is a meaningful step, and you don’t need to have everything figured out to begin.

You’re always welcome to contact me to talk through your concerns and see if we feel like a good fit. Your comfort and well-being are my priority!

  • You already have by being here!

To continue your Path, you can reach out to schedule a consultation or your first session. I look forward to connecting with you!
